‘Today Bangladesh is holding its head high as a highly respected member of the world community’

Sajeeb Wazed Joy

Sajeeb Wazed Joy,

ICT advisor of Prime Minister of Bangladesh:

Today has been the culmination of a tremendous two weeks for our Awami League Government and Bangladesh. In the past two weeks our Honorable Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was elected as the Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, MP Saber Chowdhury was elected as the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, our nation was elected to be a member of the UN Human Rights Council and today we were re-elected to the administrative council of the International Telecommunication Union. In all of these successes we were voted in by a majority of countries around the world. This is a tremendous recognition of our standing and popularity in the world. This recognition and popularity has come about because of all the hard work and successes of our Awami League Government and our members, MPs, Ministers and government officials. Today Bangladesh is holding its head high as a highly respected member of the world community, all because of the achievements of the Awami League Government and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

What makes this past two weeks even more special is that the most infamous war criminal Ghulam Azam died in prison. It was more than he deserved, but justice has been served. He did not die a free man and political leader, as he was under the BNP-Jamaat regime. Ziaur Rahman allowed him to return to and lead politics in the country where he slaughtered innocent civilians on behalf of Pakistan. Bangabandhu’s daughter and party brought him to justice after 40 long years.

Today I am very proud to be a Bengali and of my Government and Nation.

Joy Bangla,
Joy Bangabandhu!
